All written assignments are to be completed in Google Docs using your "@claaonline.com" Google Apps account. The reason for this is that you, your classmates, tutors and teachers can chat in those documents and your teachers can help you master each assignment by adding comments, making corrections and communicating with you in the document screen. That's a pretty awesome tool once you learn how to use it, and more efficient than anything a teacher can do in a classroom.
There are three important steps you need to take to complete and submit an assignment:
1. COPY the Assignment Document
Your teacher will make a blank worksheet/document available wherever an assignment is given. This blank document is not meant for you to write in, but to make your own copy of and save to your Google Drive folders. Once you make your own copy, you can enter all of your own text and it will be saved in Drive for you.
2. SHARE Your Assignment Document
As you complete your assignment, you can work on them in private. When you're ready to share them, simply click "Share" in the upper right hand corner. Choose "People in CLAA Online with the Link" and then "Can EDIT". This will give you a link that allows you to control who can see your assignment. You can copy that link and give it to whomever you please.
3. SUBMIT Your Assignment Document Link
When you need to submit an assignment for review/grading. You need to submit the Share link to your teacher through the lesson system. Simply paste the Share link in the text box for the assignment. Then, your teacher will be able to open your assignment, review your work and communicate with you through that document. When it is finished, your teacher will enter your grade in the grade book and you'll be done.
